Position Highlights
Job Title: Staff Physical Therapist** **Position Summary: The staff physical therapist is responsible for evaluation and administration of treatment of patients through the use of physical therapy techniques and modalities. The staff physical therapist is responsible to supervise the duties of supportive personnel that pertain to the treatment of an assigned patient. The staff physical therapist is also concerned with the proper care and maintenance of equipment in the physical therapy department.** **Line of Authority: The staff physical therapist is responsible to the department head, Administrator of Community Memorial Hospital and to the physician within referral boundaries.
Professional Requirements** **Education** **Graduation from a recognized college of university with a minimum of a Bachelor’s of science degree in physical therapy or a Bachelor’s degree and completion of a certified program in an approved school of physical therapy.** **Must be registered and licensed in the state of South Dakota.** **Experience and Job Knowledge** **Must show knowledge of the principles and practices of the physical therapy and skill in all physical therapy modalities and treatment programs.** **Personality** **Requires patience, dependability, and a desire to work with people. Must show ingenuity, initiative and good judgment in making decisions.** **Personal Characteristics** **Must be neat, clean, well groomed and in good physical and mental health.
Professional Growth** **Participate in hospital/departmental educational programs and active participation in professional physical therapy organizations, conferences, and meetings.** **Occasionally attend continuing educational courses pertaining to physical therapy to further his/her education.
Public Relations** **Give tours, demonstrations, and lectures to interested groups or persons.** **Perform necessary functions as required to promote good working relationships with patients, hospital employees, agencies, and the public.
Duties** **To insure all daily records and progress notes are up to date.** **Provide quality patient care as per ethics and standards of PT.** **Maintain professional ethics.** **Supervision of supportive personnel.** **Evaluates dysfunction, develops, administers and supervises appropriate treatment plans in the home/facility setting within scope of practice.** **Uses OASIS and other standardized assessment tools when in HH setting.** **All other activities as assigned by PT Dept. Head.
