Network Engineer III

Directly responsible and accountable to the Director of Technology and Operations. Responsible for the security, design, administration, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and documentation of the corporate-wide LAN/WAN environments within HHS. This responsibility involves ensuring network security, developing system backup procedures and overseeing adherence to those procedures, managing internal and external communications to the network, and ensuring that all network related hardware and software is maintained and updated to optimize system efficiency with associated documentation. The Network Engineer III also provides system advice and support to Director of Technology and Operations and performs special projects as assigned.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science or related field.
2. In lieu of degree, 7 years of relevant work experience and equivalent technical/vocational certifications.
3. Good organizational skills.
4. Self-motivated with initiative.
5. In-depth knowledge of the System Engineering life cycle process and project management processes.
6. Systems architecture experience including hardware, software requirements, and licensing, is required.
7. Experience in project planning and estimating.
8. Basic knowledge of server infrastructure and technologies such as server virtualization, Active Directory, SAN networking protocols and cloud usage.
9. In-depth knowledge of Cisco FMC and FTD platforms, including installation, configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
10. Configuration and management of VPNs, SD-WAN, and network segmentation across multiple sites.
11. Strong expertise in Cisco ISE - including profiling, posture assessment, and guest/BYOD management.
12. Integration of ISE with Active Directory, certificate services, and endpoint security tools
13. Certified Cisco Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or Certified Cisco Engineer certification (CCNP) preferred or equivalent hands-on experience with Cisco Routers, Switches, Security Devices and Wireless Infrastructure.
14. Experience with systems and network performance tuning, capacity planning, backup and recovery, system architecture and design as well as high availability concepts.
15. Familiarity with technologies on a converged data network supporting VoIP and SIP
16. Solid communication skills; effectively communicate in both oral and written form.
17. Able to build strong work relationship with customers and teammates.

• Possess drive to explore and implement new technologies and improve general technical knowledge is required.
• Experienced with performing systems integration and testing.
