    SUMMARY

    The Development Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end development of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, including concept generation, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), process automation, and lifecycle support. This role focuses on building robust product and process platforms that align with Amphenol CMT’s long-term technology roadmap.

     

    The position provides cross-functional support across manufacturing, quality, customer service, and sales to accelerate innovation and operational excellence. Products include electro-mechanical systems, precision interconnects, cable assemblies, control panels, and automated manufacturing tools for both new and existing product lines.

     

    This role requires a proactive mindset, combining technical depth with strategic vision to drive innovation in design automation, scalable manufacturing processes, and next-generation platform development.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    + Involvement in product and process platform development to enable modular, reusable design and scalable production capabilities.

    + Integrate DFM principles early in the product lifecycle to ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality consistency.

    + Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline production, reduce variability, and enhance process repeatability.

    + Utilize technology roadmaps to guide future innovation, process capability growth, and manufacturing technology integration.

    + Perform design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of products by applying sound engineering principles and analytical tools.

    + Conduct analyses and validation testing of new materials, methods, and processes; document findings and recommendations.

    + Create and maintain detailed CAD drawings and documentation (SolidWorks or ProE) compliant with internal and industry standards.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop manufacturing tools, evaluate process feasibility, and resolve production issues.

    + Participate in technical proposals, providing input on technical approach, cost, and schedule estimates.

    + Support project management in resource planning, milestone tracking, and risk management.

    + Actively contribute to continuous improvement and automation initiatives within engineering and manufacturing.

    + Work with cross-functional team members on knowledge-sharing for DFM, automation, and system integration best practices.

    + Executes foundational design and analysis tasks under supervision.

    + Assists with DFM review, manufacturing readiness and test planning.

    + Participates in process improvement and automation learning programs.

    + Builds understanding of company standards, procedures, and customer requirements.

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

    Engineer I

    A bachelor’s degree in engineering/sciences or 5+ years of experience in a technical engineering role.

    + Preferred Industry backgrounds:

    + Medical/FDA regulated manufacturing

    + Automation and smart manufacturing

    + Injection molding and extrusion

    LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

    + Conversational in any other language is a plus.

    JOB SKILLS

    + Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.

    + Expertise in DFM/DFA methodologies and lead design practices.

    + Strong knowledge of manufacturing automation and assembly process optimization

    + Ability to communicated and influence cross-functionally.

    + Experience in process capability analysis and continuous improvement.

    + Broad engineering knowledge across mechanical, electrical and manufacturing disciplines.

    + Self-directed, innovative and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while operating a computer. They frequently use their hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding.     TRAVEL

    Approximately **15-40** % of travel is expected both domestic and international. Travel is to customer sites and CMT manufacturing facilities.

    SALARY INFORMATION:

    According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between:

    Engineer I

     

    $85,000-$95,000 annually

     

    However, this salary information is merely a general guideline. When extending an offer, Amphenol Critical Medical Technologies considers various factors such as the position's responsibilities, scope of work, candidate's work experience, education/training, essential skills, internal pay equity, and market considerations.

     

    Certain roles are also eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases and annual bonus. These awards are discretionary and allocated based on individual and company performance. U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and wellbeing benefits, among others. U.S.-based employees also receive, per calendar year, up to 11 scheduled paid holidays, up to 80 hours of paid time off and sick paid time off.
