This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. American Water is also proud to offer employees learning opportunities and work experiences to grow professionally! _*Primary Role*_ The Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for investigating escalated cybersecurity alerts, incidents, and events identified by L1 analysts. This role focuses on triage, analysis, and response within documented processes to ensure the security and resilience of the organization’s systems. The analyst will serve as the lead investigative analyst on escalated cybersecurity events and collaborate with other cybersecurity teams, but will not have direct people management responsibilities. _*Key Accountabilities*_ * Monitor and analyze security alerts from SIEM, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, firewalls, and other cybersecurity tools. * Perform initial or secondary triage, categorization, and documentation of security events. * Follow documented standard operating procedures (SOPs) for investigating and escalating incidents. * Direct Palo MDR for containment of assets involved in an incident. * Conduct daily security tasks such as log reviews, system health checks, and routine monitoring. * Accurately record incident findings, investigation steps, and escalation details in case management systems. * Collaborate with team members to ensure effective 24/7/365 incident handling coverage _ *Knowledge/Skills*_ * Water Utility Experience, Project involvement, Security Operations, Change Management Processes, Working knowledge of: * Endpoint detection * Intrusion detection/prevention systems * Firewalls * SIEM * Strong knowledge of digital technologies and applicability for the water and wastewater industries * Familiarity with common attack techniques and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. _ *Experience/Education*_ * Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent professional experience. * Appropriate technical certification in specialty area preferred. * Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Information Technology operations. * At least 1 year of Security Operations experience preferred. * Experience in utilities, critical infrastructure, or other highly regulated industries strongly preferred. _ *Work Environment*_ * Office Environment, Camden, NJ. _ *Travel Requirements*_ * As necessary, up to 10% _ *Competencies*_ Champions safety Customer obsessed Cultivates innovation Nimble learning Drives Results Collaborates * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing*™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants* *based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.*
