Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES (May Include, but Not limited):

+ Utilize material science knowledge to lead material innovations, applications, and processes.

+ Critically evaluate and solve material/processing problems, with emphasis on root cause identification and corrective action implementation.

+ Develop formulations, test methods, and procedures for new products.

+ Work in cross functional groups to provide support to product development, operations, and business needs.

+ Utilize and implement the latest technologies to test, analyze, and develop our current and future product lines.

+ Work with the company’s suppliers and customers to assure products and materials conform to customer engineering/technical needs.

+ Communicate with Material Science Director to develop and solve customer and future business needs.

+ Author procedures, work instructions, and legal documents; conduct technical training sessions for associates and customers.

+ Assist with the lab managers/quality engineers to create robust testing and quality plans for new products and processes.

+ Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental, and department of health requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or closely related field required.

+ Master's and PhD degrees preferred

+ Strong understanding of thermoplastic, thermoset, and elastomer properties, applications, and testing is desired

+ Comprehensive knowledge of plastics conversion technologies is desired

+ Knowledge in FDA and EU plastics regulations, standards, and guidance is preferred

+ Self-motivated, innovative, and detail oriented.

+ Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

+ Ability able to work effectively in a team and individually.

+ Proven problem-solving skills and ability to apply scientific principles to industrial challenges

+ Strong organizational and planning skills to complete and manage multiple projects simultaneously

+ Ability to seek out new/novel material & additive innovations

+ Ability to comprehend and interpret scientific journals, technical documents, and patents.

+ Ability to travel domestically required.

_The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $150,000_ _to $180,000_ _. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits._

Compensation
