    WOODLAND JOB CORPS | DORM SUPERVISOR

    The Dorm Supervisor at Woodland Job Corps plays a critical role in student success, ensuring a safe, structured, and supportive residential environment. This position fosters student retention, achievement, and personal growth through strong supervision, individualized case management, and effective staff leadership.

    Residential Oversight

    + Responsible to provide students in the dormitory with a safe, clean, and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success.

    + Oversees the daily management of the dorm area and uses proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and concerns.

    + Provides individualized case management in conjunction with counseling staff to maintain student enrollment and success in the program.

    Staff Supervision & Development

    + Supervises and manages residential staff.

    + Coordinates staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised, including maintaining an active list of substitute Residential Advisors.

    + Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination, and evaluates performance of Residential Department staff.

    + Ensures all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.

    + Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.

    + Employs sound time-management and delegation skills, holds staff accountable for producing quality work, and develops staff for career progression.

    + Motivates and empowers staff, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes accomplishments, and addresses performance concerns proactively.

    Student Support & Case Management

    + Responsible for overseeing the student dorm leadership program.

    + Provides comprehensive and individualized case management ensuring student progress, retention, and completion of the Job Corps program.

    + Establishes supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment.

    + Active member on case management and success teams to ensure student success.

    + Provides high-quality supervision for students, takes swift and appropriate action, positively influences behavior, and holds students accountable.

    Operations & Reporting

    + Ensures the accuracy and completeness of incident and shift reports.

    + Ensures the physical security of the dorm area and reports concerns to senior management.

    + Maintains adequate levels of inventory and proactively orders supplies.

    + Initiates work orders for repairs and follows up with maintenance to ensure completion.

    + Fills staff vacancies in a timely manner.

    + Exchanges ideas and information clearly, both orally and in writing, and contributes meaningfully to team efforts.

    Community & Program Development

    + Develops Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training, and WBL.

    + Promotes a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establishes meaningful relationships with elected officials.

    + Mentors, monitors, and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.

    + Provides transportation as required.

    + Ensures programs and services for students are high-quality, effective, and continuously improved.

    Problem-Solving & Collaboration

    + Identifies problems, analyzes causes, evaluates solutions, and ensures issues are corrected.

    + Works in partnership with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and student services.

    + Accepts direction from the Center Director, Center Duty Officer, or Shift Manager, including temporary assignments in other departments.

    + Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    + Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited school preferred.

    + Experience: A minimum of one-year Job Corps or related program experience required.

    + Licenses: A valid in-State Driver’s License preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    + Must be able to perform activities including sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching.

    + Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or assess the lift load and request necessary assistance when needed.
