• Mechanical Design Engineer

    Description

    The purpose of the Mechanical Engineer position is to design, develop, and ensure the compliance of ASME/ANSI conditions are met within custom fabrications. This work primarily will be performed on water treatment/ chemical dosing “skids”.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following essential functions describe the nature of this position and represent the major criteria that will define the time/ work spent in this role:

    1. (50%) – SYSTEM DESIGN

    a. Design “Skids / Systems” in Solidworks™ based on sold jobs.

    b. Work with Application Engineers / Sales to develop an engineered solution for a sold system.

    c. Compare P&ID (typically AutoCAD™) drawings to system quote to guarantee system accuracy. Revise and incorporate in drawing Submittal Package.

    2. (25%) – SYSTEM ENGINEERING

    a. Provide necessary NPSH calculations, Pressure Drops, Pump/ Flow Meter Sizing, or other engineering calculations to support drawings for system designs.

    b. Work with necessary OEM vendors

    c. Ensure ASME/ANSI design compliance

    d. Provide necessary Notes/ instructions to ensure fabricators build within ASME 31.1 & 31.3 compliance.

    e. Build Weld Maps/ Frame or Structural design layout.

    3. (15%) – REVISION & AS-BUILT DRAWINGS

    a. Complete revisions of drawings per customer markups

    b. Coordinate with Sales/ AE’s for Scope Changes or engineering solutions

    c. Prepare detailed BOM (Bill of Material) for each system

    d. Work with Mechanical Shop Supervisor to complete as-built drawings per markups on tested equipment

    4. (10%) – MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SUPPORT

    a. Support Mechanical Shop Supervisor

    b. Mechanical Integration Design

    c. Field High-level mechanical support (for Service Team)

    d. Provide High-level support for AE’s/Sales in developing their S&E’s.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    • B.S. of Science – Mechanical Based (ex. ME, MET)

    EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

    • Solidworks 3D Drafting Experience

    • Solidworks Routing Preferred

    • AutoCAD Drafting Experience

    • Water Treatment/ Fluids Industry preferred

    • Mechanical Technical Print/ Industrial Technical Document proficient

    • Self-Motivated

    • Engineering Math Skills – Should be able to perform basic engineering related math for solving designs or calculating system loading.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bartlett, IL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr.
