Job Title: Distribution Engineering I (Durham)Job Description

As a Distribution Engineer, you will work under the supervision of a technical lead to support various activities related to electrical overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4kV through 138kV. Your role will involve developing design and construction work packages, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing engineering support during construction.

Responsibilities

+ Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems.

+ Comply with safety requirements and design and quality expectations.

+ Travel to sites for inspections and return to the office for engineering design work.

+ Perform engineering calculations including structural analysis for wood pole loading and specifying conductor sags and tensions.

+ Develop permitting documents for different Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

+ Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.

+ Conduct root cause analysis of outages and apply engineering principles for mitigation.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

+ 0-1 years of prior relevant experience.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, power distribution design, and electrical engineering.

+ Experience with GIS and utility design.

+ Interest in developing work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, SOCKET, or similar.

+ Experience using CAD tools, MicroStation, and/or GIS.

+ Familiarity with NESC and design standards.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role. Candidates should be comfortable in both field and office settings as some field work may be required. Selected candidates will be trained in customer engineering and construction standards and will gain experience in coordination of conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.81 - $29.81/hr.
