This Medical Assistant position is based in Winter Springs and requires a flexible, dedicated, and professional individual. The primary function of this role is to perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician. This includes both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. The Laboratory Medical Assistant will be responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This position involves working in offices to support either the Medical Assistant role or a dedicated Lab station within the NorthEast region of Central Florida.
Responsibilities
+ Perform laboratory testing procedures and report results to a healthcare clinician.
+ Alert the healthcare clinician of any critical or out-of-range values and document critical reports.
+ Perform phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.
+ Prepare specimens for reference lab send-outs, including labeling, resulting, and billing information.
+ Perform and document daily/weekly/monthly quality control, including instrument maintenance.
+ Document the patient’s intake vitals, including height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rate; notify the clinician of any abnormal findings.
+ Interview patients based on age appropriateness or specialty needs, ensuring accurate documentation and updating medical records.
+ Obtain necessary medical records, consultation notes, hospital inpatient and/or ED discharge records, diagnostic and laboratory results for clinician review and treatment follow-up as needed.
Essential Skills
+ Medical assisting skills with a focus on patient care and phlebotomy.
+ MA Diploma/Certification or a minimum of 3 years MA experience.
+ Active BLS certification.
+ Active and valid driver's license.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with EMR, healthcare, and medical terminology.
+ Knowledge of electronic health records, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification.
+ Skills in triage, pediatric care, blood pressure measurement, internal medicine, and patient education.
+ Front desk experience, RMA certification, bilingual abilities, blood draw skills, data entry, and patient vitals management.
+ Experience in family medicine.
Work Environment
The work environment is patient-facing and involves indoor work. The role requires operating a computer and may involve exposure to hazards. The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to reach outward and above the shoulder. The ability to lift or carry 10 lbs. or less is required. The role involves sitting, walking, squatting, kneeling, or bending. The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with Saturdays on rotation up to two times a month from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The pay range for this position is $33196.00 - $46883.00/yr.
