Jr. Project Engineer – Medical Device Design (Knee Implant)
Team Size: 10-15 engineers
Travel: Less than 5%
About the Role
Join our dynamic engineering team at the early stages of a new knee implant program! As a Jr. Project Engineer, you’ll support sustaining engineering efforts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance product design, testing, and compliance initiatives. This is a hands-on, entry-level opportunity for candidates with internship or 1-2 years of experience in the medical device or other regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities
+ Assist in oversight of sustaining engineering teams for implant and instrument design.
+ Model and detail implant/instrument designs using ProE/Creo (SolidWorks experience considered).
+ Draft technical protocols, memos, and reports.
+ Support design and manufacturing changes, maintaining existing designs.
+ Apply knowledge of surgical procedures to develop innovative solutions for customer needs.
+ Contribute to FDA and global submissions through design rationales and compliance documentation.
+ Research legacy testing and design controls for supporting evidence.
+ Perform tolerance analysis and support heavy testing activities.
+ Collaborate with an international team to ensure compliance with industry standards.
+ Work closely with engineers in the lab to support test protocols.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or related science/engineering discipline).
+ Internship or 1-2+ years of product design experience in medical device or other regulated industry.
+ Experience with parametric CAD design software (ProE/Creo preferred; SolidWorks considered).
+ Familiarity with design controls, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
+ Understanding of engineering drawings, test reports, and design control documents.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
+ Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or other scientific/engineering discipline is a plus.
+ Test protocol experience preferred.

+ Heavy emphasis on design controls, material selection, and testing.

This is a Contract position based out of Mahwah, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
