The Control Systems Technician is responsible for supporting engineering teams in the preparation, configuration, and testing of control systems that meet code, contract, and schedule requirements for projects in the Americas. This role primarily focuses on control systems related to large frame industrial gas turbines in simple cycle and/or combined cycle operation with steam turbines. Responsibilities may also include customer training and both remote and on-site support.
Responsibilities
+ Design and review new design concepts and assist in developing new control systems.
+ Maintain and modify existing control systems.
+ Collaborate with design engineers, execution engineers, and other internal staff.
+ Develop procedures for testing the control system based on its configuration.
+ Configure Mitsubishi Control System, including HMI and database, using procedures and techniques.
+ Perform testing and inspection of control systems, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
+ Support field operations in performing on-site installation of control systems.
+ Provide start-up commissioning, operations, and/or troubleshooting support for equipment failures, determine root cause analysis, and implement solutions.
+ Prepare procedures and submit accurate reports regarding conditions, required actions, and obtained results.
+ Overnight travel (at least 25%) by land and/or air.
+ Perform other duties as required, such as packing equipment, staging equipment, and organizing test equipment/tools.
Essential Skills
+ Strong understanding of mechanical and electronic elements of control systems, including familiarity with PLCs, DCS, HMIs, sensors, and actuators.
+ Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment, including signal generators, calibration meters, digital multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
+ Ability to read and interpret technical prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation.
+ Experience with control systems such as advanced process control (APC), distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), OPC/Modbus, and SCADA applicable to power plants.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology, automation technology, or vocational training in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience in specific control disciplines.
+ Strong documentation skills and capability to understand circuit layouts, control panel designs, and system configurations.
Work Environment
The role involves up to 25% travel to sites and is based in a multi-disciplined engineering office. The Control System team consists of 11 full-time employees, 2 interns, and 6 remote resources from the Philippines. The work environment is dynamic, fostering collaboration across various engineering disciplines.

This is a Contract position based out of Lake Mary, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
