    Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Linux developer to design, code, and test software for the Linux OS. The focus will be on areas such as kernel, drivers, applications, and wireless services, with a strong emphasis on Raspberry Pi systems.

    Responsibilities

    + Design, develop, and implement new features or applications for Linux platforms.

    + Debug Linux kernel components, drivers, and firmware for specific hardware.

    + Develop firmware/software for wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, BLE) and design OTA updates.

    + Implement and optimize drivers and stacks for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (Classic, BLE) to integrate with different wireless devices.

    + Write, debug, and deploy code for embedded applications, focusing on Linux and hardware interfacing.

    + Connect and program sensors, actuators, transducers, and other peripherals via GPIO pins and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).

    + Set up and manage the Linux OS, Raspberry Pi OS, and software environments.

    + Build and test rapid prototypes.

    + Integrate wireless modules, manage device connectivity (cloud, device interfaces), and ensure system-level functionality.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.

    + 5+ years of software development experience.

    + Extensive experience in C/C++ development.

    + Experience with Linux and communication protocols such as Wi-Fi, USB, etc.

    + Proficiency with built-in embedded web servers and HTTP/HTTPS protocols.

    + Knowledge of RTOS, Python, C/C++, Perl, MATLAB.

    + Familiarity with tools like Git, Docker, CI/CD, databases, web services (APIs).

    + Hardware design experience.

    + Experience in new product development.

    + Experience in industrial products (motors, pumps, sensors, IoT/wireless communication).

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a large office-type facility with approximately 35 individuals, including 15 engineers. The environment offers a tight-knit team dynamic with various test rooms. The facility serves as a new product development center within an established company with a profitable track record. The building is modern, and the role provides the opportunity to be a subject matter expert with flexibility in product design ideas.

    This is a Contract position based out of Miramar, FL.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
