Job Title: Associate Microbiologist
Job Description
As an Associate Microbiologist , you will conduct routine analysis of dietary supplements, focusing on proprietary blends. Your work will involve using various media and dilutions to set up and inoculate samples. The position requires testing for pathogens such as E.coli, Salmonella, and Listeria, as well as plating for yeast, mold, and total plate counts. There is an opportunity for future training in the Probiotics lab, where you will engage in enumerations of probiotic samples, perform dilution plate methods, and explore flow cytometry.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct routine analysis of dietary supplements using various media and dilutions.
+ Test for pathogens including E.coli, Salmonella, and Listeria.
+ Perform plating for yeast, mold, and total plate counts.
+ Set up and inoculate samples as per proprietary blends.
+ Engage in enumeration of probiotic samples and dilution plate methods.
+ Learn and apply flow cytometry techniques in the future.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, etc.).
+ 0-1+ years of experience in a production/manufacturing or food service position.
+ Proficiency in microbiology and biology, including aseptic techniques.
+ Ability to multitask and maintain high attention to detail.
+ Experience with PCR and ELISA testing is a plus.
+ Ability to use various pipettes and micropipettes, especially multi-channel electronic pipettes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in food testing or food service.
+ Familiarity with media preparation and microbiology laboratory practices.
+ Experience in a manufacturing or production environments is beneficial.
+ Routine or repetitive task experience (warehouse/assembly/lab).
Work Environment
The role is set in a fast-paced lab environment focused on dietary microbiology and probiotics testing. The lab is part of a larger facility with a small, dedicated team of around 20 employees in the microbiology department. The work can be repetitive and is similar to production work, requiring adherence to client deadlines. The facility offers advancement opportunities, and employees benefit from a bonus program based on performance and tenure. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
