We’re looking for a Crime Lab Analystto join our Seized Drugs Unit— a detail-driven, mission-focused team dedicated to providing accurate and timely forensic analysis. The Crime Lab Analyst plays a critical role in examining, identifying, and reporting on controlled substances submitted as evidence. This position works closely with senior analysts, investigators, and other forensic disciplines to ensure high-quality scientific results and support the integrity of criminal investigations.

Minimum Qualifications
A baccalaureate degree with twelve semester hours in biology or chemistry and an additional twelve semester hours in a biological science, chemistry, forensic science, molecular physics, physics, criminalistics or pharmacology.
A combination of coursework is allowed.
NOTE:
Applicants must meet the current educational requirements of the hiring agency’s accrediting body for the laboratory.
NOTE:
Criminal Justice is not considered a qualifying educational field.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As a Crime Lab Analyst, you will conduct forensic analyses at the request of local, state, and federal law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies. Examples of other duties included are;
• Conducting forensic analysis on evidence and reference specimens related to criminal activity.
• Utilizes and maintains scientific instrumentation and advanced computer stems in support of forensic analysis.
• Performs technical and administrative reviews of case work performed by other analysts. (If authorized).
• Serves as an expert witness in criminal proceedings regarding the forensic analysis conducted and represents finding to the trier of fact as required by law.
• Preserves and maintains evidence by applying current standard forensic practices.
• Demonstrates competency and proficiency by participating in an approved testing program(s).
• Assists other laboratory or agency personnel with routine administrative tasks related to the support of forensic operations, such as inventory, purchasing, budgeting, tours, escorting of guests, etc.

Appointment Type:Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment.
Career Progression:This position may be filled as a Crime Laboratory Analyst 1, 2, or 3.
Work Schedule:Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The bi-weekly rate for this position is as follows:
Crime Lab Analyst 1 (TS309) - $1,790.40
Crime Lab Analyst 2 (TS310) - $1,916.00
Crime Lab Analyst 3 (TS311) - $2,320.00
Crime Lab Analyst 4 (TS13) - $2,564.00
