About this Job
Northwestern State University of Louisiana Department of English, Languages, and Cultural Studies in Natchitoches, LA, is seeking applicants to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Spanish (tenure track) with a starting date of August 10, 2026.
The position's teaching responsibilities are expected to include introductory and intermediate. Spanish language courses for minors and non-minors, and more specialized classes in Spanish, including classes in grammar, composition, and civilization. Therefore, we seek a candidate who will provide high-quality instruction in undergraduate Spanish courses, in both face-to-face and online settings. Teaching load will be 5/5. Candidates also should demonstrate a willingness to assist with the recruitment and retention of students, interest in service to the Department, and dedication to a promising research agenda.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
+ Ph.D. in Spanish preferred, ABO considered.
+ Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
+ The ability to teach Spanish courses at the undergraduate level.
+ The ability to teach another French or another high-need language-with at least 18 hours of graduate study in that language-is preferred but not required for this position.
