TheLabor Market Specialistplays a key role in preparing, collecting, analyzing, and assigning occupational codes for the OEWS sample. This position reviews returned reports for accuracy, completeness, and content, and analyzes the returned data to assign appropriate occupational classification and wage data for accuracy. Some travel for training may be required.
TheOffice of Workforce Development (OWD)is a key division of Louisiana Works managing programs in workforce training, job placement, apprenticeships, and business engagement. Through collaboration with local boards, educational institutions, and industry partners, OWD aims to improve economic mobility for job seekers and ensure Louisiana employers have the skilled talent they need, contributing to the state’s economic growth.

Minimum Qualifications
Six semester hours in economics with an additional six semester hours in economics, math, computer science, statistics, or marketing plus one of the following:
Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, or statistical analysis; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR
A bachelor's degree.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Contribute to the address refinement process for each OEWS sample survey. This requires the Specialist to conduct a thorough analysis of each sample unit assigned to them for completeness and accuracy of the contact information, solvency of unit and industry classification.
+ Conduct a comprehensive review of the completed respondent surveys assigned. This review includes the analysis of the occupations reported against the standard industry pattern to identify the presence of abnormalities in the reported data.
+ Assist in the non-response follow-up process. This process involves contacting all non-response units to solicit their voluntary assistance in completing the survey. The non-response contact may involve utilizing the telephone, fax, or email.
+ Conduct a quality assurance process to uncover possible errors in the reported data.
+ Assist in the analysis of the final estimates based on the collected data. The Labor Market Specialist will use statistical tools as well as local labor market knowledge to suppress estimates based on incorrect or incomplete information.
+ Publish OEWS estimates to the Louisiana Works website. The specialist will analyze occupations and/or industry compositions for publication.
+ Other duties as assigned
