    Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics

    Job Focus Area

    The Mathematics Assessment Coordinator, housed within the Assessment division of the Office of Assessments, Accountability, and Analytics, is responsible for the development and implementation of the K-3 Numeracy assessments system and the LEAP 2025 state assessment system in alignment with the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics (LSSM), as required by federal policy, Louisiana law, and BESE policy. The employee is responsible for the development of numeracy assessments content for screening/diagnostic testing, progress monitoring, and proficiency determination to be administered during each school year, for students in Kindergarten through grade 3.

     

    The coordinator provides critical support to local education authorities, school system supervisors, administrators, specialists, and teachers while contributing to the continued expansion of the statewide K-3 Numeracy and state summative assessment system. Candidates should have teaching experience, possess in-depth knowledge of the LSSM and Mathematical Practices—particularly for grades K-2, 3–8, Algebra I, and Geometry—and demonstrate expertise in mathematics instruction and assessment, with the expectation of showcasing their understanding of these areas during the interview process.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

     

    Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

     

    A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

     

    An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

    Job Duties and Other Information

    Job Duties:

    As a Mathematics Assessment Coordinator, you will:

    + Lead team meetings and review the work/performance of peers.

    + Set program goals and objectives, and develop plans for implementation.

    + Communicate the needs of Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to the Assessment Director and Assistant Superintendent.

    + Provide regular updates to the Assessment Director and Assistant Superintendent on services, programs, and current issues.

    + Collaborate with Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) staff to stay current on state and federal programs.

    + Advise school system superintendents, educators, and external stakeholders on policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.

    + Assist in the resolution of program-related problems for schools and school systems.

    + Research and develop new solutions and enhance content based on trends, research findings, and legislative changes.

    + Serve as a school system partner to build the capacity of school and district teams.

    + Design and implement evaluation methods to measure program quality and student impact.

    + Plan and conduct professional development, workshops, and conferences for educators, higher education institutions, and community groups.

    + Meet with stakeholders from schools, colleges, technical institutions, and outside organizations to coordinate efforts.

    + Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials for regional and state stakeholders.

    + Travel to schools or districts to provide on-site consultation and technical assistance.

    Position-Specific Details:

    Appointment Type: Job Appointment. This position will be filled as a temporary job appointment that may last up to 4 years. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.

     

    Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

     

    Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

     

    Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $28.96/hour.

     

    **Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
