    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The RN is responsible for decisions and actions within the domain of nursing practice. Important aspects of this responsibility are the promotion of a safe and therapeutic environment for both the recipients and providers of nursing care; acquisition of specialized knowledge skills and additional formal education to provide specialized care; demonstration and validation of competence in nursing practice; clinical practice consistent with the policies, procedures and standards of this facility; and supervision of other staff as designated within the department.

     

    + The RNis responsible fordecisions and actions within the domain of nursing practice. Important aspects of this responsibility are the promotion of a safe and therapeutic environment for both the recipients and providers of nursing care; acquisition of specialized knowledge skills and additional formal education to provide specialized care; demonstration and validation of competence in nursing practice; clinical practice consistent with the policies, procedures and standards of this facility; and supervision of other staff as designated within the department. Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.

    + Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.

    + Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.

    + Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.

    + Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

    + Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

    + PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

    + (RN) Registered Nurse

    + Associate Degree, or Bachelors Degree

    + Texas State RN License or compact license required

    + TNCC and ENPS required within 18 months of hire or transfer; advanced specialty certification (i.e. CEN) encouraged.

    + +2 year of recent ER experience preferred
