    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    Responsible for direct patient care in Critical Care Units and compliance with guidelines as outlined in the supervising agreement. Responsible for assisting physicians in the medical care and management of patients, performing such functions as making rounds, physical examinations, and other patient examinations, injections, care of wounds, and arranging for patient referrals. A wide degree of patient care autonomy/latitude is expected. The Physician Assistant is credentialed and works in collaboration with the attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to provide specialty care to critically ill patients. The Physician Assistant provides in-house, round-the-clock coverage, coordinating, providing, and managing the care of critically ill patients. Must be able to perform arterial lines, central lines, vent management, etc. Will primarily work at Hampden Medical Center with rotating time to Holy Spirit Medical Center. This position includes weekends. Experience in Critical Care preferred.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program or baccalaureate or higher degree program that meets licensure requirements in the State of Pennsylvania required.

    + National Certification in Pennsylvania or in another State with reciprocity and licensure to practice in Pennsylvania required.

    + Relevant experience preferred.

    + Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, including ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life support and BLS (Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support Certification.

    PREFFERED QUALIFICATION:

    + 2 years’ experience working in inpatient acute care critical care
