    Position Summary:

    The Staff Mechanical Engineer will serve as a technical leader responsible for the design, development, and integration of advanced mechanical systems for navigation technologies and robotic surgical platforms. This role requires deep expertise in precision engineering, motion systems, and medical device design, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and delivering innovative solutions that enhance surgical accuracy and patient outcomes. This includes bringing a product from idea/concept through design, prototyping, development testing, design verification and validation, manufacturing, FDA approvals, product introduction, and post introduction monitoring. This individual will work closely with surgeons and all other functions of the company to ensure high-quality and on-time product introductions. The position will be hands-on and the individual must be capable of creative and systematic product development with minimal supervision.

    Essential Functions:

    + Mechanical System Architecture: Define and lead the mechanical architecture for navigation systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and manufacturability.

    + Design & Development: Create detailed mechanical designs using CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent); Perform tolerance analysis, stress analysis, and kinematic/dynamic modeling.

    + Integration & Collaboration: Partner with electrical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.

    + Materials & Manufacturing: Select appropriate materials and processes for biocompatibility, sterilization, and cost-effectiveness.

    + Prototyping & Testing: Oversee rapid prototyping and iterative design validation; Develop and execute test plans for mechanical performance, durability, and compliance.

    + Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and FDA design control requirements, including risk management and documentation.

    + Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to strategic technology roadmaps.

    + Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation in mechanical design practices, tools, and methodologies; maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies

    + Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies.

    + Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role.

    + Represents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties of Globus.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.

    + Minimum 10 years in mechanical design for complex systems, with at least 5 years in medical devices or robotics.

    + Proven track record in precision mechanisms, motion systems, and high-reliability designs.

    + Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD software for design and drafting preferred

    + Strong knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, and tolerance analysis.

    + Familiarity with materials science and manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing).

    + Experience with wearable computing devices and extended reality display systems is a plus

    + Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    + Ability to work independently and as a critical contributor in small teams

    + Excellent oral, written, and graphical communication skills

    + Experience in the Medical Device field
