    General Purpose

     

    Develop engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, licensing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the company SCADA system used for electric grid monitoring, protection and control. Act as a lead and/or technical resource to SCADA engineer 1, 2, and 3.

    Responsibilities

    + Assist in the SCADA design of RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) architectures and systems to support numerous grid-connected initiatives and projects, including the creation and modifications to RTU designs, configurations, and points list implementations.

    + Coordinate with various engineering disciplines, project engineers/managers, and customer representatives to finalize SCADA point lists based on anticipated requirements.

    + Work with database analysts, business system analysts, and advanced application teams to ensure the remote data requirements are completely and accurately implemented into the OSI Monarch EMS/SCADA system.

    + Develop complete SCADA designs utilizing standardized engineering methods.

    + Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of systems, processes, or facilities to support company objectives utilizing engineering methods.

    + Assist in the development of moderately complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments.

    + Deliver on commitments, performing site visits and coordinating with field personnel when necessary to accomplish assigned work.

    + Maintain project timeliness and budgets.

    + Train and mentor level 1 SCADA engineers.

    + Recommend alternative engineering solutions to senior engineers/management to meet business needs.

    + Deliver on commitments to accomplish assigned work.

    + Assist in analyzing and developing standard engineering methods, when requested.

    In addition to the above, the Level 3 responsibilities include:

    + Lead in the SCADA design of numerous RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) architectures to support various ongoing projects, including creation or modifications to RTU designs, configurations, and points list implementations.

    + Develop complex engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, and design documents.

    + Develop alternative engineering solutions (with management direction) to meet business needs.

    + Act as a lead in the work group; train and mentor level 1 and 2 SCADA engineers.

    In addition to all the above, the Level 4 responsibilities include:

    + Act as a lead expert in the work group; train and mentor level 1, 2, and 3 SCADA engineers.

    + Assist in the development of engineering standards based on sound engineering principles and methods to support evolving company needs and objectives.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of two years additional directly-related technical experience is required.)

    + A minimum of three years of directly-related experience in an engineering field.

    + Applied knowledge of electric grid energy management systems or similar for the purpose of configuring and engineering SCADA systems used for electric grid monitoring, protection, and control.

    + Knowledge and application of principles in area of SCADA engineering.

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.

    + Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.

    + Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.

    + Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.

    + An on-site presence is required to perform collaborative functions of the position.

    In addition to the above, the Level 3 requirements include:

    + A minimum of five years of directly-related experience in an engineering field.

    + Advanced knowledge of electric grid energy management systems or similar for the purpose of configuring and engineering SCADA systems used for electric grid monitoring, protection and control.

    In addition to the above, the Level 4 requirements include:

    + A minimum of ten years of directly-related experience in an engineering field.

    + Expert-level knowledge of electric grid energy management systems or similar for the purpose of configuring and engineering SCADA systems used for electric grid monitoring, protection and control.

     

    Preferences

     

    Engineering experience specific to industrial power systems or electric utility power systems.
