Position Summary and Purpose: We are seeking an experienced Director of Product Management to lead our product strategy and drive innovation across our portfolio of metal fabrication and additive manufacturing solutions. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will oversee a multidisciplinary team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products from ideation through market success. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with deep expertise in product lifecycle management within capital equipment or industrial machinery sectors, including a strong focus on applying the 80/20 principles to prioritize high-impact customers and products.
Essential Functions:
+ Lead and mentor the Product Management team, Product Consultants, Application Engineering, Marketing, and Training teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on customer needs and innovation.
+ Develop and implement comprehensive Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) strategies to optimize product portfolios, ensure sustained competitiveness, and maximize profitability throughout each product's lifecycle, with an emphasis on 80/20 analysis to focus resources on the vital few products and customers driving the majority of value.
+ Drive New Product Development (NPD) strategies, from concept ideation and roadmap planning to execution, aligning with market trends, customer feedback, and technological advancements in metal fabrication and additive manufacturing.
+ Create and execute effective Go-to-Market (GTM) strategies for new products, including positioning, pricing, sales enablement, marketing collateral, and launch plans to achieve revenue targets.
+ Manage R&D funnel, collaborating with engineering to prioritize projects, and establishing timelines.
+ Apply 80/20 principles to customer segmentation and product portfolio optimization.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing to align product roadmaps with business objectives and customer requirements.
+ Analyze market intelligence, competitive landscapes, and voice-of-customer data to inform product decisions and identify growth opportunities.
+ Establish key performance metrics for product success, monitor portfolio health, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Work Experience:
+ 7+ years of progressive experience in product management, ideally within industrial machinery, capital equipment, metal fabrication, or manufacturing sectors.
+ Proven track record of instituting Product Lifecycle Management strategies and leading successful NPD processes in a B2B environment.
+ Demonstrated expertise in developing Go-to-Market strategies that deliver measurable commercial impact.
+ Strong understanding of R&D funnel management, including prioritization, stage-gate methodologies, and portfolio optimization.
+ Experience applying 80/20 principles to customer focus, product rationalization, and resource allocation for maximum impact.
+ Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including product management, applications engineering, consulting, and training functions.
+ Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
+ Analytical mindset with proficiency in data-driven decision-making tools and market analysis.
+ Willingness to travel as needed to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events.
Education:
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
