    POSITION DETAILS

    The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) is a vibrant, pluralistic learning community committed to students’ intellectual and personal growth.     The Executive Director Academic Career and Industry Partnerships will have a dual report to the President and Provost and will be responsible for the campus-wide student career success strategy. This position will be responsible for increasing the College’s internship rate and post-graduate employment rate by implementing student, faculty, and employer-focused activities that build on the College’s career outcomes infrastructure on a sustainable basis. The position will also work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to lead strategic planning regarding the design, implementation, partnerships, and evaluation of key initiatives that support student career success.

     

    This position involves overseeing various projects and initiatives aimed at improving student engagement, career readiness, and overall success. The Executive Director will work with multiple departments and staff teams, including Academic Departments especially those involved with NYSOP (New York State Opportunity Program) the Center for Career Development, Advising, Office of Faculty Appointments, Continuing Education, Industry Engagement, CUNY Inclusive Economy, CUNY Beyond and more to ensure the effective implementation of strategic plans and programs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the development and execution of strategies to increase the College’s internship and employment rates.

    • Lead the development of nontraditional academic initiatives including career connected learning into teaching and learning.

    • Collaborate with academic departments to fully realize the degree/career maps.

    • Raise external funding from public, private, nonprofit, and philanthropic sources to support the various programs.

    • Develop partnerships with external organizations and industry leaders to create direct and sustainable hiring pipelines that connect students to internship and employment opportunities.

    • Provide management and fiscal leadership to career-readiness programs and their constituent staff teams.

    • Oversee data collection and analysis strategy related to student internship and post-graduate employment outcomes. Coordinate closely with the CUNY Central Office to ensure data harmonization across systems.

    • Organize and coordinate events such as faculty workshops, student workshops, career fairs, industry and employer panels, and more.

    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the College's goals as embodied in its Strategic Plan related to academic innovation, student outcomes, and career readiness.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Educational Background: Master's degree; Doctorate preferred.

    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching within higher education, as well as a minimum of 5 years working administratively in a higher education setting - with a focus on academic innovation and career outcomes.

    • Partnership Development: Experience in developing and maintaining partnerships with external organizations for the purpose of creating sustainable hiring pipelines for students

    • Faculty Engagement: Experience in engaging with and mobilizing faculty members on career-focused initiatives

    • Assessment: Experience with developing assessment tools

    • Management: Proven track record of successful program management, staff management, budgetary oversight, fundraising, and event production

    • Leadership: Transformational Leader with experience in a higher education and leading large scale initiatives.

    • Technology: Strong understanding of emerging technologies that can be leveraged to advance the College’s strategic planning goals – such as A.I., data analytics, data science, career tech platforms, and more.

    • CUNY Systems: Experience within the CUNY ecosystem, familiarity with CUNY systems and platforms, and CUNY academic culture

    • New York City Systems: Experience with coordination among City agencies and stakeholders regarding public budgeting, development of contracts, Memoranda of Understandings, procurement, and more. Experience with K-16 programing.

    • Senior Leadership experience at the Director or Assistant Dean or Higher

    • Higher Education technology tools: Experience using tools like Navigate, BrightSpace and Career Coach.

    Associate Administrator

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    Salary commensurate with education and experience, from $150,000 - $170,000.
