Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
The French Program at Sam Houston State University seeks lecturer-pool instructors for introductory and intermediate French courses. Positions are primarily online with existing course infrastructure provided, allowing instructors to focus on teaching rather than course development.
Lecturer-Pool faculty teach one to four courses per semester based on enrollment.
Course requirements may include a combination of teaching on-campus classes at the main campus in Huntsville, and online classes, depending on the needs of the academic department. Lecturer-Pool faculty hiring is based upon student demand, on a semester-by-semester basis.

Educational Requirements for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
The primary requirement for the position is the completion of 18 graduate credit hours in French beyond the Bachelor’s degree. The ideal candidate will also have prior experience and a strong interest in teaching French at the university level with a focus on communicative competence and intercultural awareness.
Experience Required for the Position (Faculty Positions Only):
Prior university-level teaching experience preferred.
