STAFF ACCOUNTANT II
The Edinburg Center is seeking an efficient, detail-oriented, and personable Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This is a unique and mission-driven role for an accountant who enjoys collaborating with a wide range of colleagues and supporting programs that positively impact lives every day.
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will support core accounting functions, including general ledger activities, monthly close, reconciliations, daily deposits, and housing and residential fee accounting. The role works closely with program and operations staff, serving as a financial partner to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Monthly Close
+ Support the monthly general ledger close process, including preparing journal entries, reviewing transactions, and ensuring deadlines are met.
+ Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and resolving variances.
+ Assist with maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP.
+ Support audits and internal reviews by providing documentation and analysis as requested.
Cash Receipts & Daily Deposits
+ Process and record daily deposits, ensuring accurate and timely posting to the general ledger.
+ Reconcile cash receipts to bank activity and internal records
+ Collaborate with program staff to resolve discrepancies related to payments or deposits.
Housing & Residential Fee Accounting
+ Provide accounting and administrative support for housing and residential services for approximately 175 individuals served.
+ Collaborate with program staff to ensure accurate records, including leases, rent calculations, and supporting documentation.
+ Generate and distribute monthly billing statements.
+ Track and apply payments, monitor account balances, and follow up on discrepancies.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
+ 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
+ Working knowledge of GAAP.
+ Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and monthly close.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level).
+ Experience with enterprise accounting software; Acumatica experience a plus.
+ Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work collaboratively across departments.
