THE POSITION
Are you seeking challenging and meaningful work supervising professional accountants performing various complex and highly automated investment account activity involving Real Estate and alternative investment advisors? The Senior Investment Professional will operate with considerable independence, as this is a position that is expected to function with authority and autonomy. A successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate the following: proficiency in MS Excel; strong attention to detail/technical acumen; excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; collaborative work ethic; ability to comprehend and synthesize complex financial and qualitative review concepts; and a robust attention to detail with the ability to analyze data, form conclusions and provide recommendations.
The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS, www.psers.pa.gov ), is an agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that administers the pension plan for Pennsylvania's public school employees. The mission of PSERS is to maintain a financially sound System that supports over a half million members with a current pension fund of approximately $80+ billion. This position will play a contributing part in ensuring PSERS fulfills its mission and values.
PSERS is located in Harrisburg, PA, a mid-size city situated along the Susquehanna River. Teleworking is optional, with an occasional need to report to the Harrisburg office as operationally necessary. If requesting to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and be located in Pennsylvania. The Harrisburg area is affordable and near many attractions including Hershey, and it is only two hours from major cities and airports like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position is responsible for advanced professional accounting work in the Special Investment Accounting Section (SIAS). The primary function involves supervising the activities of a small staff of professional accountants engaged in the analysis, reconciliation, classification, and reporting of various complex and highly automated investment account activity, between our investment accounting system, Real Estate and alternative investment advisors, and the custodial bank in the Special Investment Accounting Section (SIAS).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7.5 consecutive hours between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ Work hours can be discussed during the interview process.
+ Telework: This position is hybrid telework eligible, dependent on operational and executive leadership requirements. All teleworking must occur within Pennsylvania. If requesting to telework, incumbent must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection at their Pennsylvania telework location.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Four years of professional accounting or auditing and investment operations experience which includes two years of investment accounting or investment auditing experience, one year of which included experience in domestic fixed income and domestic and international equities and either real estate, private equity or derivative asset classes; and two years of supervision in the auditing or accounting field; and a bachelor's degree, which included or was supplemented by eighteen college credits in accounting. Experience in investment accounting or investment auditing must have been acquired within the last six years;or
+ Any equivalent combination of experience and training which included at least two years of professional investment accounting or investment auditing or investment operations experience, one year of which included experience in domestic fixed income and domestic and international equities and either real estate, private equity or derivative asset classes; and two years of supervision in the auditing or accounting field; and a bachelor's degree, which included or was supplemented by eighteen college credits in accounting. Experience in investment accounting or investment auditing must have been acquired within the last six years;or
+ A business-related master's degree or Certification as a Public Accountant (CPA) may be substituted for one year of general accounting or auditing experience
Additional Requirements:
+ You must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to Pennsylvania for the duration of your employment. Relocation cost will not be covered by PSERS.
+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
+ Two or more years of relevant professional accounting experience in real estate, infrastructure, private equity, and private credit asset classes
+ One or more years of experience using BNY Mellon Nexen or related trading solution software (e.g., Private i, Tamale)
+ Two or more years of Excel experience using advanced formulas, pivot tables, and multiple functions for complex data analysis and reporting
