    If you're passionate about empowering students to create positive change, SUNY Oneonta invites you to apply for the position of The Center of Volunteerism and Community Engagement (CVCE) Coordinator. Reporting to the CVCE Director, this role supports programs that integrate service, leadership, and learning through innovative initiatives that engage students in both local and global communities. The coordinator plays an active role in shaping student experiences, strengthening community partnerships, and expanding opportunities for engagement and growth.

     

    As part of the Experiential Learning Center in Hunt Union, The Center for Volunteerism and Community Engagement is the heart of SUNY Oneonta's efforts to inspire civic responsibility, social awareness, and community involvement. Each year, students contribute more than 45,000 hours of service valued at $1.6 million to nearly 100 local nonprofits. The CVCE collaborates closely with offices such as Career Planning and Networking, Sustainability, and Global Education to foster academic learning, community impact, and leadership development through meaningful partnerships and hands-on experiences.

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    + Provide administrative coordination and operational support for campus-wide volunteer initiatives and community engagement programs.

    + Oversee the Center's digital presence, communications, and promotional materials.

    + Support the coordination and implementation of high-impact programs such as the Empire State Service Corps.

    + Support students and student groups in planning, promoting, and participating in volunteer and service-learning opportunities.

    + Maintain partnerships with community organizations and campus collaborators.

    + Supervise, train, and mentor student staff and volunteers.

    + Serve as a key advisor to the Director and represent the Center in institutional planning, assessment, and external relations.

     

    Salary: $60,000. SUNY Oneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness qualifying employer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree.

    + Minimum of 2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, student affairs, community engagement, or related setting.

    + Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

    + Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

    Preferred:

    + Master's degree in Higher Education, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field.

    + 3 or more years of progressively responsible experience in volunteer coordination, student affairs, or community engagement.

    + Experience with SUNY systems and AmeriCorps/ESSC program administration.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Office, BANNER, Canva, and data management tools.

    + Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through leadership, service, and community collaboration.
