    The POST Unit is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join their team. This person will support the Academy Curriculum Redesign initiative and support the Curriculum Developer with compliance, logistics, and customer service to various stakeholders. This person will have the opportunity to travel across Colorado and engage with the community to learn more about law enforcement and make meaningful changes to academy curriculum.     Description of Job

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    This position is located in the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Unit within the Criminal Justice section of the Colorado Attorney General's Office. The Unit exists to assist the POST Board with the requirements of the statutorily mandated POST created curriculum and the supervision of training efforts of Colorado peace officers. The Unit is responsible for ensuring training needs of the law enforcement community are met by regularly developing and changing existing curriculum, setting and maintaining standards of law enforcement training academies, certifying and decertifying peace officers, and the administration of large amounts of grant funds for peace officer training.

     

    This position will primarily work on the academy redesign project. The goal of this project is to develop a more detailed and standardized curriculum that all law enforcement academies will use across Colorado. The focus of the curriculum will be on the science of learning, such as active learning, including hands-on and experiential scenarios. This position will provide logistical and administrative support to the Academy Curriculum Developer. As the project progresses, this position will help with the obtainment and organization of curriculum instructional materials, files and other records, setting meetings, managing communication, etc. After the project has been completed and implemented, this position will assist with the maintenance and compliance of the new curriculum.

    This recruitment may be used to fill other Program Assistant positions in the Criminal Justice section at the Department of Law.

     

    Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    Minimum Qualifications: Please document all relevant experience in detail on your application. Experience will not be inferred or assumed. Any part-time experience listed will be prorated.

    Experience Only:

    Four (4) years of experience providing program or administrative support in a professional office setting. Experience must include supporting multiple team members.

    OR

    Education and Experience:

    A combination of related education and program or administrative support in a professional office setting equal to four (4) years. Please note, education may only substitute for 1 year of the required experience.

     

    If qualifying under the substitution, you will be required to provide a copy of your transcripts at time of application.

     

    Note: Candidates possessing a foreign degree must submit a translation (evaluation) of their degree from an accredited institution, such as The National Association of Credential Evaluations Services in order to be given credit for the degree.

    Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, the preferred applicant will also demonstrate and clearly describe the following skills and experience in their job application:

    + Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel

    + Knowledge of the Colorado Open Meetings Act (COMA) requirements

    + Experience collaborating with stakeholders to coordinate meetings and ensure project goals are being met

    + Ability to work independently as well as with a team, including demonstrating collaboration and flexibility to address changing priorities

    + Experience or interest working for and with law enforcement

    + High technical aptitude and experience working with various systems

    + Experience working in a customer service facing role

    + Experience serving as a liaison or mediator

    + Experience working for the State of Colorado

    + Demonstrated ability to gain cooperation, teamwork, and consensus from diverse groups of individuals

    Conditions of Employment:

    + Final candidates for employment must successfully pass a thorough criminal background investigation. For POST Unit positions, this includes a review of POST Certification status.

    + This position requires occasional in-state travel to support program development, such as assisting new instructors during implementation at training academies. Applicants must possess a valid Colorado Driver's license. Requires statewide travel, including occasional overnight travel.

    + This position offers flexible work arrangements. In-office presence is required as needed for meetings and other business needs.
