Purpose/Summary
This is a 12-month faculty position.

Description of Job
GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides high-quality for-credit instruction, non-credit training and program support to meet students, community and businesses’ needs. Assists Senior Welding Trainer with instruction, program coordination and development, shop related activities in areas to include but not limited to material/metal processing, supply management, data collection, demonstration of safe work practices, preventative maintenance, lab area cleaning and proper equipment use.
CCD is currently seeking to fill two full-time positions: one for morning and afternoon classes and another for afternoon and evening classes. These are full-time, in-person,12-month faculty positions.
Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES
Training and Instruction
• Effectively prepares and teaches assigned for-credit and non-credit classes in accordance with scheduled times and places.
• Conducts student assessments in accordance with established criteria.
• Maintains accurate student records in accordance with client requirements and college policies.
• Provides a safe and secure learning environment.
• Duties include processing metal, raw material, or other materials as needed.
• Coordinate material handling responsibilities with AMC Lab Coordinator.
• Cleaning and maintaining lab area equipment (changing belt grinder belts, band saw blades, cleaning filtration units or other tasks as needed).
• Developing inventory, supply management and data collection.
• Support other instructors as needed.
Activities related to program development, maintenance and improvement
• Coordinate with Senior Welding Trainer to develop course materials.
• Identify and promote opportunities for process improvement and quality control/assurance.
• Coordinate with Director to develop standards for competency-based education modules and Credit for Prior Learning to assist in the assessment of individual's skills for entry into credit certificate or diploma programs.
• Coordinate with AMC Lab Coordinator and Director to improve workflow processes, inventory control, and material preparation.
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education:(Minimum/Required)
Thorough training in welding techniques and methodology.
Experience: :(Minimum/Required)
• At least three years' experience in operations in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Oxyfuel cutting (OFC), Oxyacetylene Welding (OAW), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Carbon Arc Cutting with Air (CAC-A), blueprint reading, and OSHA regulations.
• Experience welding and cutting a variety of materials including but not limited to steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, in a variety of gages of plate and variety of schedule pipe.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Minimum/Required)
• Expert knowledge of welding concepts and techniques.
• Blueprint reading skills.
• Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint and Word to create data collection tools, gradebooks, presentations and documents as needed.
• Use computers and tablets in the delivery of instruction, course material development, data collection or other tasks as needed.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Strong conflict resolution skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Knowledge of safe work practices.
Licensure/Certification: (Required)
It’s required that the employee obtains the following certificates:
• Within one year of date of hire:
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or Certified Welding Educator (CWE)
• Forklift operation certification.
• Within two years of date of hire:
• Sit for either the CWI or CWE certification, whichever one was not earned within the first year.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: (Preferred)
Associate’s degree or higher in Welding, Fabrication, or a related Skilled Trades degree.
Experience: (Preferred)
• Experience as a welding instructor in a post-secondary institution or job experience training other employees.
• Experience with corporate client training.
• Weld inspection.
Licensure/Certification: (Preferred)
• Welding certification in one or more process: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW.
• Certified Welding Inspector.
• Certified Welding Educator.
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
Equipment Used:
A variety of equipment to include but not limited to track torches, metal shear, benders, welding equipment (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, OAW, OFC, CAC-A, PAC), band saws, grinders, belt grinders, and other electric or pneumatic tools used in welding or metal fabrication, including forklift usage.
Availability (preferred)
• Evenings and weekends, in addition to regular Mon-Fri business hours.
