    Description of Job

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    The Architectural Technology Program provides workforce education and training to students, leading to certificates and degrees in Architectural Technology that provide a basis for paraprofessional entry-level career advancement, as well as robust transfer opportunities into four-year undergraduate architecture programs. The department also provides critical digital design training and support for students in CCD’s Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing programs.

     

    This is a full-time in-person faculty position, teaching an important and unique range of introductory-to-advanced courses in design theory, sustainable design concepts and methodologies, and digital design applications. The faculty will share in the administration of the department, and collaborates on projects and service to the program, pathway, and college.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    PRIMARY DUTIES

    The successful candidate’s primary role is in teaching face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats and can effectively collaborate with programs and/or contribute to their course offerings and participate cross-functionally within the institution.

     

    Primary teaching duties will be introductory and advanced Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) courses as specified herein. When appropriate, faculty will have the opportunity to be awarded alternative assignments for administrative and leadership duties.

     

    The successful candidate will deliver instruction using the latest tools, technology, and student-centered andragogical frameworks. They will be dedicated to ongoing professional development in the field of education as well as design. They will be able to assume leadership responsibilities, exhibit effective organizational skills, and exhibit articulate written and verbal communication skills. While teaching a curriculum aligned with course student learning outcomes, they will also model respect, competence, professional development, and ethical responsibility. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success and faculty mentoring beyond the classroom to include wrap-around services. Helping to assess and improve enrollment and student success will be integral to this position.

     

    In addition to teaching, all full-time faculty are expected to provide service to the college. The successful candidate will collaborate with the department chair and other faculty on Perkins grants, program-level assessment, and growing the program to include building non-credit courses. We are interested in a candidate who is a skilled project manager and can build community connections to bridge our educational programs with workforce experience and job opportunities. . Full-time faculty are expected to share in broader department coordination duties, which may include hiring and supervising of adjunct instructors, mentoring adjunct instructors, and assuming the role of department Chair.

     

    As an Architectural Technology faculty, you will need to secure an initial Career and Technical Education credential that demonstrates 2,000-4,000 relevant work experience hours. You can demonstrate evidence of coursework, workshops/seminar time, and/or work experience to be re-credentialed.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Education:(Minimum/Required)

    + Master's degree in architectural history, urban design or planning, landscape architecture, interior design, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, construction management, industrial design, or building science.

     

    Experience: :(Minimum/Required)

     

    + Successful experience teaching architecture in a community college, college or university setting.

    + Proven experience and training in teaching across multiple modalities, such as asynchronous, hybrid, synchronous remote, and in-person formats.

    + Demonstrated ability to teach inclusively, applying student-centered, active learning, and equity-minded approaches to meet the needs of diverse community college learners.

    + Must have or be able to obtain a Career and Technical Education credential through the Colorado Community College System. Click for information on how to obtain a CTE credential.

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Preferred)

     

    + Evidence of innovative approaches to utilizing AI

    + Established architectural hand drawing and sketching skills.

    Education: (Preferred)

    + Master's or 5-year bachelor’s degree in architecture.

    + Hold a current professional architectural license(s).

    + Attained a LEED Accredited Professional Certification.

    Experience: (Preferred)

    + Experience in North American building design and construction techniques and assemblies.

    + History of professional experience in collaborative architectural design processes.

    + Proven capacity to build relationships with industry partners/professional organizations.

    Equipment Used:

    Learning management software, e.g. Desire2Learn, Blackboard, Canvas, and classroom equipment like document camera, personal computer/laptop, and whiteboard.
