    CERTIFICATION: NYS School Building Leader (SBL) or NYS School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS), candidates eligible for certification are encouraged to apply

     

    QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in education, including teaching and/or administration

     

    Graduate study beyond a Master's degree with a concentration in school administration

     

    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and staff members

     

    DESCRIPTION: The Starpoint Central School District is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated High School Assistant Principal to join our administrative team. The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Principal and other administrators to provide strong instructional leadership, foster a positive and safe learning environment, and ensure the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and visionary leader to make an impact on the lives of the students and staff at Starpoint High School.

     

    The successful candidate will have an understanding of the educational and developmental needs that are unique to students at the high school level.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Assists the Principal in the overall administration and supervision of the high school.

    + Executes disciplinary procedures as established by the building's behavioral expectations and District Code of Conduct. Manages student discipline in a fair and consistent manner, utilizing proactive approaches such as restorative practices to encourage positive behavior.

    + Assists in screening, interviewing, and recommending candidates for professional and support staff positions.

    + Assists the Principal in working with teacher leaders and school counselors to develop and finalize the master schedule.

    + Carries out all duties related to the Dignity Act, including investigating DASA reports, following up with stakeholders, and submitting annual SSEC reporting.

    + Supervises evening and weekend activities.

    + Coordinates student activities and events, e.g., field trips, co-curricular and/or extra-curricular, wellness events.

    + Coordinates and supervises the administration of examinations, including Regents and Advanced Placement examinations.

    + Provides leadership and support to faculty and staff in the implementation of effective instructional practices and curriculum.

    + Collaborates with the Principal to develop and implement the school's vision, goals, and improvement plans.

    + Provides leadership that fosters a positive and inclusive school culture that promotes student engagement and values student voice.

    + Works collaboratively with Student Services staff to address student needs and provides leadership to that department.

    + Oversees and manages specific school programs and initiatives as assigned by the Principal.

    + Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.

    + Actively participates in professional development activities to enhance leadership skills and knowledge.

    + Assumes all responsibilities of the Principal in the Principal's absence.

    + Assumes responsibility for other tasks as assigned by the Principal and/or District administration.

     

    SALARY: Per the Starpoint Administrators' Association Contract
