Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking an OB Technologist II to join our team!
The OB Technologist II is a member of the patient care team and is responsible for planning and organizing supplies, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures. Assists with providing patient care under the general direction of a Registered Nurse. Collaborates with all OB and surgical team members to assure the safe and efficient passage of a patient through surgery. Responsible for his/her activities that can interact with, collaborate with, cause, or result in an effect or consequence to or with other practitioners in the OB and surgical environments.
HOURS: Full-time, 0.9 FTE or 72 hours every pay period. Day/Night shift rotation. EVERY THIRD WEEKEND AND HOLIDAY.
Experience/Qualifications
+ Knowledge of surgical standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from an approved accredited school of Surgical Technology.
+ Has advanced knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and operative technique related to the operative procedures this position will assist with.
+ Minimum of one year of acute care surgical experience desired
+ Current CST-Certified Surgical Technologist, or obtained within 12 months of hire. (Those employed in role prior to 2000 are exempt from holding CST and have demonstrated proficiency and required knowledge in lieu of certification)
+ Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) desired or ability to demonstrate competency in lieu of CSFA requirement.
+ Current BLS certification or obtained within 60 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable CPR training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED. + Possesses ability to apply principles of asepsis and infection control.
+ Possesses ability to perform effectively in stressful and emergency situations.
+ Possesses ability to recognize safety hazards and initiate appropriate preventive and corrective actions.

+ Uses surgical instruments skillfully in ways consistent with their design and purpose.
+ Possesses ability to demonstrate skills in behaviors unique to the First Assistant.
