Job Description
Painters are responsible for applying preparatory materials, paints, and stains to surfaces of walls, ceilings, equipment, and furniture throughout assigned locations and projects. In addition, this position includes performing drywall installation, repair, taping, mudding, sanding, and finishing to ensure surfaces are properly prepared for painting and meet quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
+ Applies protective and decorative coatings, including primers, paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, and specialty finishes, to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture, equipment, and other structures
+ Performs comprehensive surface preparation, including washing, scraping, sanding, grinding, patching, and smoothing
+ Installs, repairs, and replaces drywall, including measuring, cutting, installing, taping, applying compound, sanding, matching existing textures, and finishing surfaces
+ Erects, uses, and dismantles scaffolding and ladders
+ Determines appropriate colors, finishes, and materials for new or replacement applications through consultation with client and review of specifications
+ Maintains and restores existing painted surfaces through color matching and finish replication
+ Prepares and implements line striping layouts for walkways, and parking lots in accordance with regulatory requirements
+ Identifies, handles, stores, and properly disposes of paints, solvents, drywall compounds, and other hazardous materials in compliance with safety and environmental regulations
+ Adheres to all safety policies and procedures, including use of PPE and job-site safety protocols
+ Maintains a professional and customer-focused attitude; responds promptly and effectively to client needs
+ Accurately reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, and work orders to execute painting and drywall projects
+ Maintains inventory of materials, supplies, and tools required for painting and drywall operations; accounts for and maintains issued tools
+ Occasionally performs general building maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing repairs, lamp replacement
+ Maintains compliance with ARAMARK standards of operation, client requirements, and business conduct policies
+ Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
+ Preferred qualifications include five or more years of related experience in painting and drywall installation and repair. This experience should be complemented by strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft applications. The role requires experience in operating and maintenance practices; report writing; development and documentation of operating and maintenance procedures; identification and resolution of operating and maintenance issues; and organizing and delivering training programs.
+ The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety Acts, fire codes and regulations, accident prevention and safe work practices, bio/chemical hazards and hazardous materials, First Aid/CPR, government regulations and protocols, and environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
+ The ability to motivate team efforts to achieve operational goals is required.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively under time constraints. The position requires the ability to apply common-sense reasoning to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions, as well as the ability to work with basic mathematical concepts, including elementary math functions and an understanding of probability and statistics.
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
