About the Agency:
The Division of Financial Management (DFM) is part of the Executive Office of the Governor. Its primary function is to assist the Governor in his duties as the Chief Budget Officer of the State. DFM works closely with the rest of state government to provide fiscal and policy guidance, oversight, and management services on behalf of the Governor.
The agency is seeking a Financial Support Technician to join the team.
Summary:
To perform specialized financial record keeping, maintenance, review, verification, and support functions; perform related work.
Job Responsibilities:
+ Perform the full range of non-routine, specialized financial record keeping functions which may include but are not limited to reconciling, balancing, proofing, verifying, distributing costs among organizational units or programs, and making debit and credit entries
+ Enter, retrieve, and edit financial data and prepare work/spread sheets and other documents including reports
+ Explain financial transactions, respond to inquiries, and explain department policies, services, and/or procedures to others outside of their department within their area of responsibility
+ Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoices, and deposits
+ Identify cost allocations
+ Maintain logs, ledgers, and journals
+ Identify outstanding statements or intercompany bills using reports
+ May review financial documents and reports, perform calculations, and verify their accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Some knowledge of:
+ Financial record keeping methods
Typically gained by the successful completion of at least two (2) college courses or a related training program in financial record keeping or accounting that covered debiting, crediting, reconciling and balancing financial records and verifying their accuracy; OR at least six (6) months of work experience performing the duties listed above as a primary responsibility of the job
Experience:
+ Using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit spreadsheet data.
Typically gained by at least one (1) year of work experience performing the duty above

+ In accounts payable, cash box reconciliation/deposit preparation
+ With MS Excel and MS Access software
+ With Microsoft Office Suite, inlcuding MS Outlook, Excel and Word
