Job Description
A company in San Diego is looking for a Category Management Advisor to join their Supply Management team! The company is seeking professionals with expertise in software procurement, AI, and cloud environments to drive strategic sourcing and contracting initiatives. This role manages the full procurement process for medium to high-risk categories, including developing and issuing RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, and leading proposal evaluations and contract awards. The position partners with stakeholders to align requirements, supports category plans to improve efficiency, reduce costs, mitigate risk, and foster innovation. Responsibilities include negotiating contracts, evaluating suppliers, and collaborating with internal teams such as Legal, Finance, and Risk Management to minimize exposure. The role also involves managing supplier relationships, resolving conflicts, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and ethical standards. Additionally, the candidate will analyze spend data and market trends to identify sourcing opportunities and mentor other procurement professionals. Occasional participation in pilot programs or proof-of-concept initiatives may be required.

Skills and Requirements
4-5 years of experience in procurement/supply chain
Strong experience negotiating software contracts
Experience running full lifecycle RFPs from cradle to grave
Strong redlining skills - must be comfortable redlining all Ts & Cs Ariba experience
Experience negotiating AI contracts
