Job Title: Grounds Crew Member

Job Description

Join our team as a Grounds Crew Member, where you'll play an essential role in maintaining and beautifying outdoor spaces. Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, with on-call duties during winter snow events.

Responsibilities

+ Inspect assigned areas for maintenance needs, including litter control and leaf removal.

+ Perform weeding, pruning, mowing, string trimming, and other landscaping tasks.

+ Engage in snow removal during winter months, ensuring safe pathways and parking lots.

+ Plant, deadhead, and thin plant materials, enhancing the aesthetic of landscaped areas.

+ Collaborate with Landscape Technicians on group projects for larger groundskeeping tasks.

+ Conduct periodic fertilization and pre-emergent control under supervision.

+ Operate landscaping equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers safely.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in groundskeeping or general labor, particularly in lawn care.

+ Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

+ Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including snow removal.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Preferred verifiable experience in lawn care or gardening.

Work Environment

This role is entirely outdoors, requiring resilience in diverse weather conditions, from rain to shine, and heat to cold. Team members will maintain university grounds, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness. Expect to get hands-on and sometimes dirty, depending on the task at hand.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
