    Job Title: CNC Lathe Set Up Machinist** **Job Description

     

    We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Set Up Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in our machining department, responsible for set ups, tool changes, offsets, and edits on CNC machines. The position involves working with aircraft parts and maintaining tight tolerances.

    Responsibilities

    + Set up and operate CNC Lathe equipment with minimal supervision.

    + Machine aircraft parts holding tolerances as tight as .0005”.

    + Perform critical measurements using supplied gauging.

    + Maintain proper paperwork associated with planned jobs.

    + Translate and understand blueprints.

    + Apply shop math skills effectively.

    + Utilize a wide variety of precision measuring tools.

    + Exposure to Okuma Lathe and OSP2000 Controllers.

    + Experience with G&M code edits.

    + Perform setups, tool changes, and offsets.

    Essential Skills

    + 5+ years as a CNC Lathe Set Up Machinist.

    + Experience with set ups, tool changes, and offsets.

    + Proficiency in editing G&M Code, including understanding speeds and feeds.

    + Ability to perform quality inspections.

    + Experience working with metals, especially stainless steel (90%).

    + Ability to hold tight tolerances using blueprints and GD&T.

    + Proficiency with basic toolboxes and measuring tools, including indicators.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with Okuma Lathe and OSP2000 Controllers.

    + Aerospace experience.

    + Mastercam Programming knowledge.

    + Experience with 4 Axis and 3+2 Axis operations.

    Work Environment

    Work in a clean facility with aerospace contracts. The position offers a 1st shift schedule from 6am to 3:30/4:30pm, Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 6am to 11am. Overtime is available after 8 hours per day.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wixom, MI.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
