    Job Title: Forklift Operator** **Job Description

     

    Responsible for ensuring materials are properly received, stored, and loaded for production. Maintain and organize the yard area, and assist customers with loading materials as needed.

    Responsibilities

    + Prepare equipment for plant start-up each morning.

    + Operate forklift to move, place, and load masonry products.

    + Perform general housekeeping tasks in and around the plant building and yard, including sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and cutting grass.

    + Maintain orderly organization of equipment and supplies in and around the yard and plant.

    + Maintain cleanliness and appearance of plant grounds.

    + Perform other duties as directed by the plant manager.

    Essential Skills

    + Forklift experience and ability to safely operate a forklift.

    + Experience with general or routine maintenance tasks.

    + Valid/current driver’s license.

    + Ability to read, write, and distinguish colors.

    + Ability to perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work independently or briefly in a team setting.

    + Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

    + Ability to read a ruler knowledgably.

    Work Environment

    The majority of work is performed outside, with exposure to weather elements including heat, cold, rain, and dust. Employees may encounter rough, muddy, or icy walking surfaces and intermittent high noise levels and vibration. There is frequent exposure to moving parts, dust, diesel fuel, propane, and other substances. Personal protective equipment is provided where necessary or requested. Work hours are Monday to Friday, with shifts starting between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. and ending between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Employees work every other weekend.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danville, VA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
