Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

Join a once in a lifetime opportunity at an exciting highly-renowned company! We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work from production schedules, material issue tickets, prints, setup diagrams, and parts program lists to ensure accurate and efficient machine operation. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machinery to produce high-quality parts.

Responsibilities

+ Review production schedule, pull print and count sheet for job to be run.

+ Follow all general and machine-specific work instructions including start-up, complex setups, preventive maintenance, operating, shutdown, and lockout tag-out procedures.

+ Check setup sheet for positioning of fixtures on the machine bed.

+ Verify material for proper straightness and length.

+ Check parts program list for the correct program number, pull disk, and load and edit program.

+ Install and adjust tool length, enter tool speed and feed, and check program dimensions against print.

+ Load material, make test run, spot drill, check dimensions, and submit the first piece for approval.

+ Run job, monitor operation, adjust feed and speed, and replace tools as necessary.

+ Maintain machine oil levels and adjust program as necessary based on varying material lengths.

+ Maintain production records and perform SPC and quality check procedures as prescribed.

+ Unload parts and transfer holes with a pneumatic hand drill.

+ Perform necessary calibration checks for tape measures, squares, calipers, and other gauges.

+ Use lift truck, pneumatic hand hoist, manual drill and grinder, tape measure, digital caliper, and other hand tools.

+ Prepare required operation reports.

Essential Skills

+ 2 years of experience as a CNC Machinist.

+ Proficient in using micrometers, calipers, and blueprints.

+ Experience with tool changes.

+ Ability to work in a hot/tough environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Advanced setup skills, complete changeovers, change fixtures, and change inserts.

+ Any programming knowledge, specifically minor edits on Mazak machines.

+ Experience working in a similar industry, such as metals or steel.

Work Environment

Our facility operates three shifts with significant overtime available: 1st shift (8am-4pm), 2nd shift (4pm-12am), and 3rd shift (12am-8am). The environment includes working around furnaces, heat treating machines, and heavy CNC machinery. It can get hot in the summer, but large garage doors help with ventilation, and we provide free Gatorade. The massive facility consists of over 10 buildings dedicated to heat treating and shaping steel.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crystal Lake, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
