Job Title: New Hire Utility** **Job Description

As a New Hire Utility employee, you will be responsible for learning to operate equipment associated with the extrusion or tube mill and handling aluminum products. This role involves training to operate, support, and move materials both on and off machines using lifting techniques and hoists. Candidates will engage in press team operations within the aluminum extrusion department and ensure quality objectives are met. This position requires a commitment to adhere to safe job practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality requirements while working in a Union environment.

Responsibilities

+ Operate and assist in operating extrusion or casting equipment.

+ Ensure all quality objectives are met.

+ Report and review any unusual conditions to lead operators or supervisors.

+ Work collaboratively with team members and management to meet daily production goals.

+ Be flexible and open to learning various departments and roles.

+ Starting as a utility worker, perform tasks such as machine operation, quality control, packing, inspecting, and more.

Essential Skills

+ 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing, machine operation, or related fields.

+ Mechanical aptitude and machine operating experience.

+ Ability to work in a production or assembly line environment.

+ Experience with quality control, inspection, and machine safety.

+ Ability to lift weights over 15 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally with assistance.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Interest in learning to operate a forklift.

+ Ability to work 2nd or 3rd shifts and up to 12-hour shifts.

+ Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.

+ Experience with hand tools and packaging is beneficial.

Work Environment

The work environment is non-climate controlled and can be loud due to machinery. The facility is open and spacious, but can be hot during the summer. Extrusion shifts are typically 8 hours, with the potential to work 10-hour days and up to 6 days a week. Candidates should be comfortable working around grease, oil, and hydraulic fluids. Shifts are 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, and 11pm-7am, with current openings on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Flexibility is required due to Union shift assignments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr.
