CNC Machinist

Job Description

The Machinist will be responsible for setting up jobs and running parts on a CNC swiss lathe within the precision department. This role involves setting up machines, running parts, and ensuring quality using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and bore gages. The machinist will be responsible for operating 2-3 CNC lathes within a tolerance of +/-.0005, primarily working on long runs of 200 to thousands of parts.

Responsibilities

+ Set up and operate CNC swiss lathes in the precision department.

+ Check the quality of parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and bore gages.

+ Read blueprints to accurately set up jobs.

+ Meet with the 1st shift lead to receive job orders and work independently after the training period.

Essential Skills

+ Ability to set up CNC lathe without assistance, preferably with experience in swiss lathes.

+ Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and bore gages to check part quality.

+ Competence in reading blueprints to set up jobs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with CNC swiss lathes is a plus.

+ Familiarity with programming, troubleshooting, and operating machining equipment.

+ Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems.

Work Environment

This position is available for the weekend shift, Friday to Sunday from 6am to 6pm, with a 40-hour pay for perfect attendance. The facility operates 3 shifts in a newly renovated, organized shop with both precision and production sides. While the environment can be loud and warm due to machine operations and lack of AC, large fans and open truck bay doors help maintain airflow. The company promotes a family-owned atmosphere despite its busy and bustling operations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Benton Harbor, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
