    Position Overview

    Emory University invites applications for a **one-year Emory Arts Fellowship in Theater** , beginning **Fall 2026** . This fellowship is made possible through a generous gift from Sarah Arison (’07B).

     

    We seek an **early-career theater artist** whose work centers on **acting and performance** . The fellowship provides:

     

    + Competitive salary and health benefits

    + $10,000 in research funds

    + Office and dedicated studio space

    + Support from Theater Emory for the development and presentation of an independent performance project

    + Access to theater facilities and office space available **August 1, 2026 – August 1, 2027** .

    Fellowship Responsibilities:

    • Teach **one course each semester, including Acting Fundamentals,** during the academic year (Fall and Spring). No summer teaching is required.

    • Teach in-person and hold regular office hours

    • Engage in Artistic Research in Acting, through a performance project presented in **Spring or Summer 2027**

    • Participate in Theater Emory’s season as an acting coach for a production, or as an actor (under separate non-Equity contract and audition required).

    • Maintain an active presence on campus, engaging with students, participating in arts events, and sharing your experience with leadership, advancement, and other university representatives as requested.

     

    Artistic Research Support for Performance Project

    In addition to $10,000 in research funds provided by the Fellowship, Theater Emory (the production arm of the department) can provide:

    + Access to the Schwartz Center Theater Lab, a black box performance space

    + Limited support for lighting, props, and costumes, with access to our stock closets and rep lighting plot

    + Rehearsal space

    + Marketing assistance

    + Box office and house management

    + Two consecutive performances of your work once the Theater Emory season has been completed

     

    _Please note: Video design, projection, and set design are not included. Technical staff beyond those listed are the fellow’s responsibility. This support is offered as an option for your performance project, but it is not required that you use it should your presentation and/or performance not need it._
