Job Brief
The Utility Mechanic performs preventive maintenance, building upkeep, and minor repairs to ensure facilities and grounds are maintained in safe and functional conditions.
Shift Worked:
Monday -Friday: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Pay range:
$21.00 hr. -$21.00 hr.
Position Duties: Include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Maintain buildings and grounds, including minor repairs, fixture installation, window replacement, and general upkeep
+ Respond to maintenance emergencies in a timely manner under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor
+ Report to the Maintenance Supervisor on the status of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment
+ Order, pick up, and deliver supplies as approved by the supervisor
+ Complete basic home repairs, including but not limited to painting, caulking, minor wall and door repairs, basic electrical and plumbing work, and wallpapering
+ Buff and wax floors as needed in assigned facilities
+ Perform maintenance-related duties as requested by the Maintenance Supervisor
+ Complete all assignments in a timely manner
+ Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
+ Ability to perform regular and special building maintenance tasks
+ Ability to work flexible hours as assigned
+ Ability to travel throughout the Hudson Valley as needed
+ Ability to make minor repairs
+ Proficiency with hand and power tools
+ Basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills preferred
+ Minimum of two years’ experience in maintenance preferred
+ Ability to work safely and recognize unsafe conditions
+ Ability to perform heavy lifting
+ Must possess a valid driver’s license
Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
+ Standing, sitting, and walking: Frequent
+ Lifting: 25–50 lbs
+ Pushing/pulling, bending/squatting, twisting, grasping, and reaching: Frequent
+ Climbing stairs, ramps, and ladders: Frequent
This position is physically active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
Requirements
+ One year of experience in minor repairs (electrical, plumbing, and carpentry)
+ Valid NYS driver’s license and must meet insurance requirements for agency vehicles
+ Willingness to travel to other locations
+ Compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
+ Adherence to the agency’s Corporate Compliance Program, including completion of required annual training and cooperation with all compliance investigations
Machines Operated
Operates a variety of hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively.
