    Job Description

    Job Summary:

    The Lead Material Handler/Shipper coordinates the material handling and shipping operations within the warehouse or distribution center. This role involves coordinating the distribution of materials and directing a team of material handlers and shippers. The Lead Material Handler/Shipper will work closely with various departments to ensure efficient and effective material flow, support production schedules, and meet customer requirements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + **Material Handling and Shipping Operations:**

    + Ensure materials are handled safely and stored properly to prevent damage or loss.

    + Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed.

    + Prepare, package, and ship orders to customers, ensuring all shipments are processed accurately and on time.

    + Coordinate with carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups and deliveries.

    + Verify shipping documentation for accuracy and completeness.

    + **Team Leadership:**

    + Lead a team of material handlers and shippers, providing guidance and training as needed.

    + Assign tasks and monitor the performance of the team to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

    + Champion a positive and collaborative work environment.

    + Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and address any issues.

    + **Documentation and Reporting:**

    + Maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory levels, and shipments.

    + Prepare and submit regular reports on material handling and shipping activities.

    + Assist in the preparation of reports for management review.

    Qualifications:

    + High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.

    + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in material handling, shipping, or warehousing, preferred 1-2 years in a lead role.

    + Proficiency in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

    + Strong understanding of shipping principles and practices.

    + Excellent organizational and time management skills.

    + Strong leadership and team management abilities.

    + Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

    + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

    + Proficiency in using shipping software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.

    Physical Requirements:

    + Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) as needed.

    + Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving materials.

    + Ability to work in various environmental conditions (e.g., hot, cold, noisy).

     

    Compensation and Benefits

     

    The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $21.76–$32.64.
