Description
Lee County Utilities is looking for a skilled Technician II Utility Locator to help find and map water and wastewater lines safely and accurately. You will work with a variety of locating tools and maps to make sure our underground systems are well-maintained. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, using technical equipment, and supporting their community.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do:
+ Locate underground water lines (1 inch – 36 inches) and wastewater lines (4 inches – 30 inches).
+ Identify related equipment like water meters, valves, sewer laterals, and manholes.
+ Read maps, plans, and as-built drawings to ensure accurate locates.
+ Use and understand a variety of utility locating tools.
+ Plan and manage your daily workload efficiently.
+ Help train new team members on locating equipment and procedures.
+ Review daily work to make sure priority tasks are completed.
+ Support the team leader to maintain a positive and safe work environment.
+ Work closely with your supervisor and other staff.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licensing
What We’re Looking For:
+ High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
+ 1 year of related experience.
+ Working with water or wastewater systems, pipelines, or other underground utilities.
+ Using utility locating tools or equipment (e.g., ground-penetrating radar, electromagnetic locators).
+ Reading or interpreting construction plans, blueprints, or as-built drawings.
+ Performing field inspections, maintenance, or repairs on utility infrastructure.
+ Coordinating or assisting with utility mapping or infrastructure documentation.
+ Supervising or training staff in field operations or technical procedures.
+ Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
+ Ability to work independently, follow safety rules, and use technical equipment.
+ Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
