Basic Job Functions:

The Manager of Steelmaking Technology collaborates closely and builds relationships with the teams at all Nucor steelmaking divisions to promote the application of technology and drive continuous improvement in the efficiency, cost and quality of the primary steelmaking operations. This position will provide technical training and support for all divisions on steelmaking process practices, clean steel technology, continuous casting and quality, slag and flux management, and refractory selection and application. The Manager of Steelmaking technology will develop technical tools and process models, update Nucor training materials for EAFs, LMFs, and casters, and provide benchmarking tools and data for the steelmaking divisions. This position will coordinate Nucor technical exchanges and assist with divisions team technical and process development. This manager will work with our network of suppliers on the development and application of new and innovative technologies. The Manager of Steelmaking Technology will serve as a liaison with various universities in research activities and membership to technical centers to foster technology transfer from research to the steelmaking divisions. This position will be based at one of our steelmaking divisions, requires working scheduled and unscheduled overtime, extensive travel, and the ability to promptly respond to steelmaking divisions operational needs.[[cust_safetyState]]

Minimum Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering or related field (or) ten years of equivalent steelmaking experience.

+ Ten years of supervisor, management, or leadership experience in steelmaking or steelmaking related operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Masters degree or higher education.

+ Experience in teaching, training, and development of technical skills.
