    Job description

    • Represent the purchasing department on assigned development program teams. Attend program milestone meetings (i.e. ITCM, PDR, CDR)

    • Coordinate with sourcing to create a purchasing strategy for the program.

    • Act as liaison between sourcing and IPT to ensure all parameters required by purchasing (supplier, price, safety stock, etc.) are entered correctly into the ERP for full program BOM

    • Ensure ERP system generates the correct action messages to satisfy program milestones.

    • Manage exceptions report for purchased parts

    • Control all BFE for the program. Issue BFE purchase orders and follow up with vendors as required

    • Build successful, professional working relationships with suppliers

    • Serve as the main point of contact for all supplier activity through duration of development activities.

    • Monitor contract milestones to ensure suppliers' schedule performance meets the requirements

    • Identify cost saving opportunities and communicate to IPT and sourcing teams.

    • Order parts from Order action from ERP system based on program requirements as assigned.

    • Additional duties as assigned by manager

    The Program Purchasing Buyer ensures that material for assigned programs is ordered per procedure, delivered on time, received within specifications, and within budget. They will be expected to maintain a consistent line of communication open with Program Management, to keep up to date on program specific details, such as requirements, schedule, budget, etc. This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

     

    Candidate skills & requirements

    Experience:

    • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Senior Buyer or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, preferably in Aerospace Industry

    • Experience procuring a broad range of commodities

    • Familiarity with contract language and basic understanding of corporate legal terms

    • Comfortable working productively with all levels of corporate structure. Primarily, but not limited to Program Management and Engineering

    Computer Skills:

    • MRP system experience

    • MS Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint)

    Other Skills:

    • Communication skills at all levels, including the ability to summarize and simplify complex subjects

    • Understanding of technical environments and customer's expectations

    • Technical understanding of landing gear and manufacturing processes

    • Ability to read and analyze engineering prints

    • Team player

    • Analytical, synthetically minded and rigorous

    • Strongly organized with a results oriented personality
