Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a CNC Operator II for our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
General Summary:
Requires, under guidance of senior personnel, the operation of CNC controlled machine tools to perform any sequence of programmed operation using programs and tool layouts provided.
Specific Responsibilities:
+ Reads blueprints and has the knowledge to use micrometers, calipers, comparators, thread gauges, depth micrometers and dial indicators as needed.
+ Active involvement in continuous improvement initiatives
+ Actively employs set-up reduction techniques to minimize “internal” activities, drive down change-over times and increase productivity
+ Maintains a clean and orderly workplace in accordance with 5S standards
+ Must be able to follow work order and verbal instructions
+ Run multiple machines as required

+ Active involvement in Autonomous Maintenance program
+ Perform Preventative Maintenance per daily schedule
+ Perform first piece verification process per part print as required
+ Responsible for producing and maintaining high level quality parts
+ Perform Lock/Out Tag/Out (LOTO)
+ Run production parts according to specifications, work instructions and quality standards
+ Check all work with appropriate measuring tools and make offsets and edits as required
+ Adjust tooling
+ Change/sharpen tooling
+ Works independently
+ Follow all EHS Policies and Procedures. Report all incidents immediately
Basic Requirements:
+ 3+ suggested years of total experience
+ Understanding of cutting tools (and offset geometry) and know "G" and "M" Codes
+ Know basic troubleshooting
+ Must start learning to set-up the more complexed CNC job
+ Must be able to run efficent and hit the run standards per work order
+ Must have full understanding of the CNC control functions
+ Must start learning to program using different speeds and feeds
+ Run multiple machines
+ Complete set-ups with minimal assistance
+ Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
+ This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
