The Motor Equipment Metal Mechanic (Motor Vehicle Body Repairer) repairs damaged bodies and body parts of automotive vehicles, such as automobiles, buses, and light trucks according to repair manuals, using hand tools and power tools, removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window, seat-operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fender, positions block against surface of dented area and beats opposite surface to remove dents using hammer, and fills depressions with solder or other plastic material.
Responsibilities
+ Removes damaged fenders, panels, and grills, using wrenches and cutting torch, and bolts or welds replacement, straightens bent frames, using hydraulic jack and pulling device, files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
+ Refinishes repaired surface, using paint spray gun and sander, aims headlights, aligns wheels, bleeds hydraulic brake system, and may paint surface after performing body repairs.
+ Reviews work in progress and upon completion for conformance to standards.
+ Manage and distribute workload; maintains accurate daily status on all jobs.
+ Proficient in proper handling and disposal of Hazardous Waste and Materials. Knowledgeable in current environmental regulations, OSHA and Air Quality programs.
+ Uses hand tools and power tools.
+ Removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic windows, seat-operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle body and fenders.
+ Removes damaged fenders, panels, and grills, using wrenches and cutting torch, and bolts or welds replacement.
+ Pounds out, files, grinds, and sands repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.
+ Refinishes repaired surface, using paint spray gun and sander and may paint surface after performing body repairs.
+ Perform glass cutting and window / windshield installation.
+ Knows how to use GCSS-A to check parts, labor and work order statuses.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
+ High School graduate or equivalent with training in motor vehicle metal maintenance.
+ Three years’ experience in vehicle metal maintenance.
+ Demonstrative ability to use automotive body hand and special tools; metal working tools, painting equipment; respirators, material handling equipment, such as but not limited to hand tools and power tools, wrenches and cutting torch, hydraulic jack and pulling device, paint spray gun and sander, and welding equipment.
+ Familiar with Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Familiar with GCSS-A and Fedlog.
+ Must possess and continuously maintain a current state driver's license.
+ Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
+ Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) to obtain a CAC.
Physical Demands:
+ Duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions.
+ Must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach for long periods of time.
+ Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs.; stooping; climbing; prolonged standing; prolonged sitting.
+ Working with or in areas where there is potential exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents.
