    Saydel Teacher:

    PURPOSE

    Under the general supervision of the building principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district and state approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    A. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    + Ability to provide effective instruction to meet student needs relative to district initiatives and standards

    + Knowledge of “best practice” in teaching

    + Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated grade level

    + Ability to build effective relationships with all stakeholders

    + Knowledge of the Iowa Teaching Standards

    + Knowledge of special education and section 504

    B. Education

    + Hold a bachelor’s or higher degree and the required Iowa certificate for the assigned position.

    C. Certification/Licensure

    + K-6 Teacher Elementary Classroom

    D. Preferred knowledge, skills, and/or attributes

    + Strong communication skills

    + Knowledge of professional learning and collaboration

    + Understanding and application of a continuous improvement mindset

    + Project-based preferred

    + Data-driven decision-making skills

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Demonstrates effective implementation of the eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria

    + Implements student-centered learning environments and improves overall quality and meaningfulness of learning opportunities

    + Meets professional responsibilities as outlined within Individual Professional Development Plan, Employee Handbook, and Board policy

    + Monitor and maintain accurate records on student achievement, articulating the progress and success

    + Fosters a classroom environment conducive to learning

    + Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with students, peers and adults

    + Perform other duties as assigned by the principal
